White Rose At Delta In Bloom!

Brothers, we have long awaited this time for our once thought dead white rose to blossom and thrive just like our chapter. We can only hope that this is a sign of greatness that is to come out of this semester and the next. And  remember, it is never too late to have your name etched on this campus forever by purchasing a brick and helping with the restoration of the Delta.
 

11th Annual Snakebite Recap

On October 14th, Sigma Nu once again hosted the annual Snakebite Golf tournament for the 11th year. Participants consisted of Alumni, active brothers, friends and family and proved to be a successful and memorable day of golf at Chestatee Golf Course. Special thanks to our participants, sponsors and Chestatee Golf Club.

Results:

1st Place: MOOBS (Tyler Averitt, Whit Breeze, Jay Bates) - 58
2nd Place: Drive for Five (Dan Leard, Elijah Thomas, Patrick Biedle, Brandon Barton) - 62
3rd Place: Random Old Guys (Jack Conner, Adam Oaks, Seth Cole, Seth Danmann) - 64

Longest Drive: Jack Conner - 290 yards
Putting Contest: John Kane - 30 yard putt
Closest to the Pin: Jim Bachstein - 4 ft

Thrift Store Social A Success

The much anticipated Thrift Store Social was a great turn out and people didn't disappoint with creative outfits they found around Dahlonega at local thrift stores. Special mention to Caruso's Italian Grill that helped host the event. Below are pictures of the winners and their outfits. Kappa Chapter will look forward to hosting the event next year!

11th Annual Snakebite Open to be held at Chestatee

The Snakebite Golf Open is Kappa Chapter's biggest event of the year traditionally hosted the third Friday of October (Gold Rush Weekend). Last year the event was hosted by Chestatee Golf Course for the historic 10th event. The event is open to not only Alumni, but to students, faculty and staff and members of the community. Teams of 4 complete a best ball play, with prizes for best team, closest to the pin, double or nothing, longest drive and longest putt. Proceeds go to No One Alone, a local non-profit organization in Dahlonega.

Most Improved Chapter of the Year!

Kappa Chapter has finished the Spring semester strongly being award the "Most Improved" chapter of the year. This is a great achievement to the entire chapter and to all the hard working brothers that did a lot behind the scenes. Having recently won Greek Week and Brother Purcell elected as IFC President the chapter is looking forward to even greater accomplishments the following year. Brothers are headed to Gulf Shores after finals for White Rose during the entire first week of May.

Kappa Chapter wins Greek Week!

Sigma Nu was named Greek Week Champions for 2011. The event commenced March 28 and end April 1. The events that fraternities and sororities compete in included a can food drive, corn hole, volleyball, shantytown, and many more. Brothers were competitive in every event placing 3rd or better winning a majority of events. The chapter was rewarded with a free pizza party that was greatly appreciated during a chapter meeting a few weeks later. Special mention to Brother Kris Muth, the VP of Greek Relations who did a great job hosting Greek Week.

New White Roses Revealed

As the fall semester is well underway, Sigma Nu once again voted on new White Roses. Most importantly, Sweetheart was to be re-voted for the first time since 2008. Congratulations to the newest White Roses Jessica Ives, Kristin Jarrard and Jennifer Stites and also to the new Sweetheart for Sigma Nu Kappa Chapter Stephanie Delashmit. Special mention to Ashley DesPres the previous Sweetheart who came to make the revealing even more special.

Purcell elected new IFC President

Brother Brandon Purcell, a Sigma Nu IFC Delegate for 2010-2011, has been voted by the IFC committee as the new IFC President for 2011-2012. This is great news for Purcell and the chapter as more brothers are taking on leadership roles on campus and throughout the community. Congratulations Brandon!
